Papa's turn!

Now that the Colin we know and love is BACK, we should have suspected that he would generously share his illness with at least one of us. Last night, I came home to colin crawling and having fun while Morgan was on the couch, under a blanket near by to keep an eye on colie. Poor papa- went to bed at 5pm and didn't rise from bed until this morning. Hopefully the numerous glasses of water, emergenC and soup helped so we don't spend another weekend as a sick family! :(

Recovering...

Day #6 and I really thought my little one would be 100% by now. However, Monday he began vomitting again and although it hasn't happened since, he is just so weak. It's incredibly sad to watch him. He reminds me of a newborn horse trying to stand- so wobbly and unstable. He is finally eating a bit more and agreeable to liquids again which is a relief. Get strong, my son! I can't wait to have my Colie back in full force- with smiles, energy and strength!!

Sickie

Colin officially was sick for the first time...the most heartbreaking experience for his mama to watch. Thursday night out of the blue, he began vomitting and it continued well into the night. I never knew a child could produce so much throw up! We were both covered head to toe, his crib was saturated, our bed...you name it. By Friday morning, we were off to the doctor who did the regular check up type things- ears, throat (both clear) and temp (1o2+)... it appeared he had a flu bug and/or a bit of food poisoning (no more eggless tofu salad out of the Whole Foods Salad bar for my baby)... Friday was spent on the couch the entire day. Literally, the whole day. My baby slept on me on and off until 10pm, and I just relished in the sweetness, however sad and worried I was. Our friends Scott and Kristi were also lifesavors, coming in shifts to hold the sleeping babe while mama did laundry and cleaned up the messiness. Today (Sunday) he is slowly recovering, although his appetite is still practically non-existant and he is very sleepy. What a "memorial" weekend!

Curious George!

Colin is incredibly inquisitive these days- taking more and more of an interest in this world. It is magical to watch as he notices the littlest of things... a small animal and the movements and sounds it makes, the wind, a new silly face mama makes or even a tiny crumb that he will patiently sit with until he can pick it up with two fingers. He definitely is exploring everything. Watching him come into his own melts my heart...

Happy 13 Months!

Today is your 13 month birthday, and you continue to be the light of our life! My prediction was that you would be walking by 13 months and although you are still shy of taking steps, you are soooo close. You stand for lengths of time, not holding on to anything. And sometimes as you stand all on your own, you begin to bounce and dance- it is just too cute! Any day now you will be walking and I have a feeling we will have a hard time catching up with you due to your incredible sense of curiousity!! Happy day my son!

Mothers Day Surprises!

A day at the Zoo!
Zebras are a hit!
Looking at the sea lions!

What a wonderful Mothers day!!! Morgan really out did himself in making me feel so special! The day began with a yummy homemade breakfast complete with roses and champagne...and then we were off to our surprise destination- The LA Zoo! What a perfect family day- and so wonderful to watch Colin in awe of the zebras, hippos, monkeys, tigers, elephants and all the other jungle animals he was only used to seeing in his bedtime stories! I also received some kick ass running shoes from Morg and a beautiful homemade bracelet from Colin (although I suspect Daddy might have helped him) :) It made me cry as I looked at the detail- the bracelet included 5 tiny photos of Colin and couldn't have been more special and perfect. I felt like the luckiest mama in the world! Wishing all other mamas a wonderful year ahead!!

Hoops!

Colin and Morgan have begun a new ritual in the mornings (quickly expanding to the afternoons and evenings as well)... a game of basketball. Colin received a nerf basketball with net in his easter basket and it is definitely a hit! Colin will seek out a hidden ball and net and with an eager face, wait patiently for Morg to set it up. And then away they go... tossing the ball to each other, complete with Morgan picking up Colin while saying "hold onto it", "hold onto it" and then when Colin is lifted next to the net, Morg exclaims "ok, dunk it" and Colin (most of the time) perfectly dunks the ball and there is a roar of "hoorays" and "good jobs" while Colie looks so proud. It is absolutely precious and I can't help but smile as I peer around a corner to see them in action.

I'm a big boy now!

Before & After...

What a day! We took Colin to get his 1st hair cut at "The Yellow Balloon"- a kid friendly hair salon. He was a champ...totally engaged with the little toys they gave him to hold as they snipped away. And when all was said and done, it was perfect and exactly what we wanted... a trim, but not TOO much taken off. He definitely looks older, but of course still as beautiful as ever.
